Whilst you are reading this I will be spending my last few days sailing around the beautiful Saronic Islands in Greece.  But I wanted you guys to know I haven’t forgotten you and so I’m sat here on the yachts sunny foredeck writing down some of my top tips on fat loss for you to take on board whilst I am on board, hee hee.

Being out here I have eaten lots of healthy Greek salads, grilled fish and drank lots of water.  I’ve also had the odd glass of retsina with my dinner in the evenings.  We can all let our hair down once in a while; so don’t be afraid to have a treat.

Sticking to the same old boring routine can be dishearten, so mix up your foods and have a cheat meal once a week.  If you’re on your holidays you can relax a little more as we all need some time occasionally.  But you don’t have to eat rubbish on holiday you can still keep to a balanced diet.

This week I have been having eggs for breakfast, with lean bacon and mushrooms, or a frittata with peppers, mushrooms or poached eggs. In both cases I’ve also taken advantage of some of the lovely fresh fruit you can get out here.

My lunches have generally been Greek salad, fresh hams, and fruit.

And for my dinner in the evenings I’ve been enjoying anything on the menu !

Due to the heat I’ve been drinking loads of water and staying away from bread, cereals, crisps, cakes, and Danish’s.

However I have been partial to an ice cream or two…and Matt has eaten anything and everything!  We have been exercising and I have even done some little 10min workouts each morning with the odd run along the beach or around the harbour side where ever and whenever I could, we have been swimming off the back of the boat most lunchtimes.  See you can still keep healthy & active on Holiday.

Anyway enough of my holiday diary, here are my top tips on healthy low fat eating.

1: Unless you are training hard for an event, you don’t need to be adding in protein shakes to your daily diet.
But, protein powder is AMAZING for baking with.  You can create all kinds of yummy clean muffins & clean cakes.

PLUS if you have REAL sugar cravings a chocolate protein drink will do the trick.

2: Rotate your meats & fishes.

This is VITAL. Try not to keep eating the same foods week in week out.
Mix it up to ensure you get all the nutrients your body requires.

3: Love LIVER.

It’s cheap, super healthy, and great for fat burning.

4: Avoid ALL the low fat or reduced fat products in the supermarket.

They ALL contain hidden sugars & sweeteners that are addictive to the brain & contain total crap.  They will increase your cravings & you will
eat more & more.

5: Stress makes you fat.
The more stressed you are, the higher your insulin/cortisol levels.

Take up some exercise and take some time through the day just for a few minutes to relax and unwind

6: Cow’s milk, Gluten

(in wheat, oats, rye & barley- that’s 99.9% of breakfast cereals & breads) & Yeast are the 3 most allergenic foods.

Eaten repeatedly over the years builds up inflammation in the body causing a multitude of ailments & illnesses as well as spiking insulin/cortisol.
Take them out of your diet and see your whole body change.

7: Sugar really is the enemy not fat.
Cut out as much sugar as you possibly can & not only see your shape change dramatically but your mental clarity, concentration & brain function will be radically clearer.

8: Be your own detective. We are all different & tolerate
various foods in different quantities.
Take out the sugar, gluten, diary & booze for 2 weeks & witness a massive change. Then, once a day add back in a food that you really enjoy or miss & see how it makes you feel.

You can then decide if you keep it in on a regular basis or as a treat only. Have ago and see how you feel.

Just a reminder……Have you register yet for the Gosport Golden Mile it is quickly approaching us, we do hope you are joining us on Sunday 1st June.
